Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. — Ferris Bueller
Welcome to the No Drama DevOps Daily blog! We’re going to learn how to design, build, and operate modern technology systems in the Cloud safely and efficiently, one day and concept at a time.
Each day, I will share my thoughts on:
- building robust systems and processes in the face of ever-increasing complexity
- the principles and some specifics of architecting for the Cloud and migrating to AWS
- why and how to apply Engineering, DevOps, and Agile practices to deliver value safely
These messages will be informal and occasionally irreverent. But, I promise to share much what has helped me build successful systems over the years. My hope is that you will learn and apply this knowledge in your own world so that you eliminate Drama from your own life. I want you and your team to do your work well and with confidence, go home on time, and enjoy the rest of your life.
I will do my best to tell you what you need to know to develop, deploy, and run applications, especially in the Cloud. We’ll start by exploring complexity and how people make sense of systems. Then we’ll discuss common approaches for simplifying problems and managing the remaining pieces. Next, we’ll examine tactics like infrastructure-as-code, containers, Serverless, and patterns for delivering applications and infrastructure. After that…well, that part of the journey isn’t charted yet. We’ll see where we go.
Please contact me when you have questions or comments! I’d love to discuss them with you and share some of that feedback with the list, if you’re up for it. We will learn together.
